2 Months Old

Carter turns 2 months old this week. I'm not sure if that makes him sound really old or really young. Maybe a little of both.

Play Play Time

Today - he played with his toys. He likes the textures on his woobie bear from grandma and grandpa.
He likes the rattle in his puppy toy.

He likes his big bear from uncle Andy because it's bigger than him and seems to amaze him.
I'm not sure why he likes the chick ... I guess for the same reasons mommy likes it - because it's completely weird.

He's Growing Up

He's going to be 2 months old next week. He has already outgrown his 'newborn' sized clothes. I teared up when I put them in storage. He's going to be a 13 year old that hates me and plays with lizards in his room while watching the Cheetah Girls before I know it.

Carter has started to smile. In this video - he smiles ... and then throws a mini fit stomping his feet.

Happy Birthday to Chad

Yesterday was Chad's birthday.

Carter and the critters gave him browns related items. And I made a little game show themed card for him to "pick a door" for his present (I couldn't pick between a new bike and a new golf club - so i made him pick). Sometimes I think he humors me with my weird ways of gift giving.

He still has to pick which he's going to get - but he seemed happy with the idea of both. These were the pictures behind the doors.

Happy Birthday to Chad - we love him very much.

Well, the negotiations over Carters bedtime continue. We have tried the 4 B’s to get him to bed at night:
1.) Bath
2.) Bottle
3.) Book
4.) Bed

But sometime after bath, he switches the rest to:
2.) Play
3.) Play
4.) Scream when put in crib
5.) Spit up due to extreme frustration about being in crib
6.) Cough and choke on spit up loudly so that it sounds like an emergency in the baby monitors
7.) Pee enough to get it out of the diaper and need an outfit change
8.) Stomp feet and pound fists into crib and scoot all the way to the rails and then pound on those until feet and arms are hanging out between rails just enough to give mommy a heart attack

Power Outage

Well, we survived our first power outage with Carter. It takes talent to change a baby with a flash light hanging out of your mouth. Chad ... well, let's say he wasn't happy that the power went out when the Browns were playing the Steelers (or for those of you that don't care about sports "blah blah blah football football"). No comment about who called the outcome of that game.

Here's chad, watching his cell phone (waiting for it to update scores). The only thing this picture doesn't show is the beer that he kept opening the refrigerator door to get - not that i was angry about that or anything.

For his future therapist

Add this to the list of things he will talk about with his therapist when he’s an adult:

Last week, while secretly scouting out some birthday presents for daddy, I realized that I was singing loudly to Blind Melon (don’t judge me … I just can’t help it, I’m a product of the 80s and 90s) shamelessly with my windows open while driving like a jerk. Well, I apparently cut some lady off that was driving super slow, so she honked at me and flicked me off. The nerve, who flicks people off anymore? This isn’t Brooklyn New York in the 90s. I’d like to say that I ignored her and then explained to Carter that people should not act on anger or aggression, and instead should show composure and patience. Nope - I yelled … well, I yelled something that wasn’t nice that rhymes with “meet me” out my window.

If those turn out to be Carter’s first two words, I plan to tell Chad that he said it one night when he was drinking…and Carter picked it up from him. Because what kind of horrible mother would say that in front of her little baby boy all snug in his car seat wearing a pooh hat and monkey overalls?

One Year Later

Well, our wedding anniversary came and went. We had planned to go to a nice dinner and then maybe drink champagne at home.

Instead, we ordered in italian food and had a glass of wine - and stayed home. How could you leave the little guy home?

This is our anniversary cake from Michael and Trad - it was a mini recreation of the same recipe from our wedding ... and it was soooooooo good!! I may as well have stuck my face in it.

And this was daddy and Carter later in the evening.

Dr's Appointment

Carter had his one month dr's appointment today.

He's in the 90th percentile for height and the 25th for weight. Meaning - he's one very very thin and tall guy. On a side note: Chad requested that i would add, "unlike Jeff Wang - who shopped in the husky section."

Here is Daddy (trying to calm down the crying baby) at the Dr's office.

Here is Carter in the cutest little boy outfit EVER ... playing with daddy

Look Alikes

Well, I waited too long to snap the picture. When Carter was born - he looked just like daddy - so I attempted to recreate daddys picture ... but Carter grew up to quick (read: he chubbed up). So, here is as close as I could get.

Although, I did notice that he had a few similarities to mommy's newborn picture too (or i am just convincing myself of that). But he grew out of those fast. Is it wrong of me to say though ... newborns all sort of look alike to me. I know ... i'm a horrible person for saying that.

One Month Old

Well, Carter turned one month this week. He looks so different (to me) than he did when he was born. He started to grow out of some of his newborn sleepers and socks too. It reminds me of those "Life comes at you fast" commercials. I feel like I will wake up one day and Carter will be in the driveway hot wiring my bmw suv (what? it's my daydream...i can drive whatever i want) to take a road trip to mexico with his buddies.

Here is Carter having some playtime. He has started to smile some ... this shows it a tiny bit.

First OSU Game

Daddy had Carter ready for his first OSU game day by 11 am this past weekend.
Here he is propped up in his boppy watching the game (in my opinion, looking bored - mommy's with you Carter)
I agree Carter....yawn. And, as uncle Andy said "Just like an OSU fan - passed out in the first quarter."

Aunt Gretchie Comes to Visit ...

Gretchen flew in to see Carter last week. And she has given him his new nickname...thumper - as he tends to thump his one foot when he wants something.

Carters first time being babysat - by Gretchen and Regina. Someday when Carter grows up and looks at these pictures - he will say, "My parents left me with two hot chicks the first time they left me with babysitters ... my parents rock." At least that's how it goes in my head.

Mommies first outing without Carter. I was so sad to leave - but so happy to be out of the house. Gretchen, Regina and I went to Rocky River Brewing company for a girls dinner. It was fabulous. Chad took this of us right before we left.

Do you ever get the feeling that your baby is judging you? I had my first beer post-baby last week - while wearing a beer shirt - and gretchen snapped this picture. I just keep looking at Carter in this picure wondering if he's judging me.
